Gov. Brewer appoints new Arizona Revenue director
PHOENIX -- Gov. Jan Brewer has named a new director for the Arizona Department of Revenue.
Brewer officially appointed acting director David Raber to the position permanently on Friday.
Raber had been filling a vacancy left after director John Greene passed away in October at age 65.
Brewer said Raber's expertise and leadership made the unexpected transition seamless.
Raber served as chief deputy director for the agency since 2011. He led the state's primary tax collection agency, which employs 800 people, and oversaw eight department divisions.
Officials said Raber was crucial to successfully implementing of a system allowing for electronically filed tax returns last year.
