Arizona rep proposing bill to protect peace officers' information
PHOENIX -- House Representative Sonny Borrelli is sponsoring legislation which will allow the spouse of a peace officer to request his or her personal information remain confidential. The bill would also allow the spouse to keep job and job duties confidential.
"If a criminal with a grudge against a peace officer wants to find out where that officer lives, he can look up where the officer's spouse lives," Borrelli said. "As much as we can, we want to give the families of peace officers the protection they deserve."
HB2145 would help protect the families by making it harder for criminals, intent on causing harm, to track down an officer or the officer's family members. The bill is widely supported by the law enforcement community.
