PHOENIX -- Phoenix-area fire agencies said they fought at least three residential fires overnight, but no injuries were reported.

Scottsdale fire Battalion Chief Rod Thompson said the Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix departments battled two fires in Scottsdale late Thursday. Causes of both are under investigation.

He said crews responded to a fire in an apartment's attic. It was quickly contained. Four units had fire, smoke or water damage.

The agencies also responded to a house fire near 86th Street and Thomas Road. Thompson said flames shot through the roof, but the fire was contained. No one was home.

Phoenix fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra said a fire in southwest Phoenix was contained to a garage, where the home's occupants were doing laundry.
