Arizona county officer accused in smuggling case
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Pima County Sheriff's Department has arrested one of its own.
The department said corrections officer Arturo Martinez was accused of smuggling a cellphone, a solar phone charger and other contraband into the county jail.
Martinez, 32, faced five counts of promoting prison contraband as a result of what the department said was an ongoing long-term investigation.
According to the department, two inmates also have been arrested in the case and accused of promoting prison contraband.
The department said more arrests are possible.
