TEMPE, Ariz. -- Three men are in custody for allegedly stealing and selling bicycles and bike parts around Tempe.

Tempe police say 46-year-old Loren Henderson, 51-year-old Jeffrey Barthold and 50-year-old Brian Meier were arrested during ``Operation Bike Peddler.''

The investigation into bike thefts and the trafficking of stolen goods began last month.

During the course of the operation, seven search warrants were served and more than 30 bicycles were recovered.

Police say they obtained information that Henderson allegedly was involved in trading drugs for stolen bikes and fraudulent and stolen identity items.

Henderson is being held on suspicion of drug crimes, misconduct involving weapons and resisting arrest.

Barthold and Meier both are accused of stealing and selling bicycles and bike parts around Tempe.

It was unclear Tuesday if the three men have lawyers.
