PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said a sheriff's posse member wounded in a Dec. 31 shooting remained in a medically induced coma.

A local TV station reported Phillip Grigg, 63, who was shot during a scuffle with a robbery suspect, has been fighting an infection.

Grigg was hurt when he tried to help a Phoenix police officer after a collision between Grigg's truck and a car driven by the robbery suspect.

Officer Scott Sefranka also was shot but he was released from the hospital mid-January.
