PHOENIX -- Several people were stung when thousands of bees escaped from a truck at a truck stop in west Phoenix.

People in the area were told to seek shelter until a bee exterminator responded to control the swarm on Sunday near Interstate 10 and 59th Avenue.

Trucker Josh Call told a local TV station that he was walking to his truck when the bees attacked him.

Call said he went across the street but the bees followed and kept on stinging him on the face, neck, upper torso and arms.
