TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pima County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested two teenage boys after one allegedly asked for help in killing his ex-girlfriend.

Authorities said 17-year-old Kevin Pettitt conspired with his friend, 17-year-old Wyatt Bowman, to murder the 18-year-old mother of Pettitt's child.

Both teens were booked on Friday at Pima County Adult Detention for one count each of conspiracy to commit murder.

Deputies said Pettitt was upset about money and custody issues involving the 1-year-old child.

They said Pettitt offered an undisclosed sum of money for Bowman to lure the woman into the desert, shoot her, remove her teen and then burn her so any remains couldn't be identified.
