PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks will be outfitting thousands of youths across the state with new jerseys.

The team and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation announced Saturday at the start of this year's Fan Fest that they plan to donate 20,000 uniforms and caps.

The new outfits will go to baseball and softball youth programs in various Arizona communities.

The foundation also plans to donate $500,000 to the jersey program.

The team said more than 30 leagues have already applied for the uniforms, which will feature more than 75 color combinations.

Officials said some leagues have already registered more than 1,500 kids for the program.
