SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Authorities said a school bus fatally struck a burro near the town of Surprise, west of Phoenix.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said the driver was the only person aboard the bus and wasn't injured.

The accident occurred about 7 a.m. Tuesday near 163rd Avenue and West White Wing Road.

DPS said collision occurred in a mostly rural area about 10 miles north of Surprise.

The name of the driver and details on the accident haven't been released yet.
