1 killed, 2 hurt in I-10 accident south of Phoenix
MARANA, Ariz. -- Eastbound Interstate 10 in Marana is open again after a two-vehicle fatal accident early Tuesday.
Authorities said one person was killed and two suffered life-threatening injuries when their westbound SUV rolled over the median cables into the eastbound lanes and was struck by a tractor-trailer rig.
According to the state Department of Public Safety, one of the SUV's passengers had gotten out of the stopped vehicle and was trying to help the other two people still inside the SUV when it was struck by the big rig.
The truck driver was not injured.
