PHOENIX — The first case of a child being killed by influenza has been confirmed, health officials said.
A child from Yuma County with multiple other health conditions died after being diagnosed by the flu. It was the first of the 2013-2104 flu season.
The child will not be identified.
As of Jan. 25, Yuma County officials have recorded 72 lab-confirmed cases of flu.
Officials said they extend their sympathy to the family and want to remind people that everyone, especially those at risk for getting the flu, should get a flu shot.
