Gilbert schools placed on precautionary lockdown

PHOENIX — Several Gilbert schools were placed on cautionary lockdown Wednesday after a suicidal suspect was reported to police.
The suspect had made threats earlier in the day and was in the area of several schools, but police do not believe that person is on a school campus.
Gilbert High School, (Gilbert and Elliott) has been placed in a modified lockdown for a suicidal subject in the area.

Mesquite Elementary is also in modified lockdown while @GilbertPolice search for a subject in the area who made suicidal threats.

Gilbert Arts Academy is in lockdown as well while @GilbertPolice search for the subject.

During a cautionary lockdown, schools run normally but students are not allowed to leave campus.
The lockdown was lifted about 1:15 p.m.
Police later located the suspect and said no charges are forthcoming.
