PHOENIX -- Arizonans could soon have another cruise ship port to choose from: Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

Construction is well underway on the Home Port in Puerto Penasco, commonly called Rocky Point by Americans.

It was an ambitious goal that will come together sometime next year. Cruise liners will be able to arrive and depart.

Have a port so close to Arizona will offer perks of both cost and sightseeing.

"Inexpensive cruises and it beats driving to San Diego and L.A.," said Paul Seifferth of Terra Travel in Mesa, adding that travelers can also discover the Sea of Cortez.

The new port will will be located near Sandy Beach.
