A 65-year-old female hiker at Lost Dutchman State Park at the Siphon Draw Trailhead has suffered a dislocated shoulder in a fall on Friday, initiating a rescue effort which won't be completed until sunrise Saturday, according to Apache Junction authorities.

The woman was alongside companion hikers when she suffered the fall, according to Apache Junction fire spokesman Dave Montgomery. Those witnessing the incident were able to call 911 from the mountain.

Crews from Apache Junction Fire Department, Pinal County Sherriff's Office, the Department of Public Safety and Superstition Search and Rescue will unite to complete the rescue effort Saturday "at first light," according to Montgomery.

He added that the rescuers will spend the night on the mountain with the injured hiker.

"It is extremely difficult to do a technical rescue in the night time," Montgomery explained to KTAR.

"Because her injuries are non-life threatening, we thought it best -- safer for her and for the rescue personnel involved -- just to keep her in place."

"That way, there's no chance of further injury."

KTAR's Mark Remillard contributed to this story.
