PEORIA, Ariz. -- Authorities have arrested a man suspected of stealing a car from an elderly shopper and leading Peoria police officers on a chase.

Police say the unidentified 89-year-old victim had her car stolen Tuesday morning as she was loading groceries outside of a store near 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Police say the suspect struck at least one vehicle on his way out of the parking lot.

He was later taken into custody without further incident and has been identified as 21-year-old Marshall Dixon of Peoria.

Police say Dixon is being held on suspicion of robbery and aggravated assault.

It's unclear if he has a lawyer yet.

Police say the elderly woman suffered minor injuries in the carjacking and was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
