PHOENIX -— A May 5 sentencing date has been set for a manager of a metro Phoenix car-wash chain that's accused of immigration fraud in its hiring practices.
Location manager Humberto Dominguez had pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge in November.
He said he in court that he was involved in the rehiring of Danny's Family Car Wash workers who were fired after an audit found nearly half of the company's workforce presented insufficient or ineligible records when they were hired.
Eleven of 14 Danny's managers who were charged have pleaded guilty.
Some lower-level managers who pleaded guilty have said at least one higher-up within Danny's instructed them to rehire the fired workers.
A Nov. 3 trial is set for three managers who pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
