FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- A Page man must serve at least 25 years in prison for the strangulation death of his live-in girlfriend.

Reben Pahi pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the June 5, 2012 killing of 26-year-old Maggie Bizardie, with whom he had two young children.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that Pahi apologized to the victim's family during his sentencing Tuesday in Coconino County Superior Court.

He told investigators that he and Bizaardi argued the night she died after she told him to move out of their apartment.

He will be eligible for release after he has served at least 25 years of his life sentence.

Pahi also must serve a concurrent eight-year sentence on an aggravated assault conviction for attacking a jail cellmate.
