COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- American weightlifter Sarah Robles has been suspended for two years by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for testing positive for a banned substance.
The USADA announced Tuesday she tested positive for the presence of an anabolic steroid and/or its metabolites.
Robles finished seventh in the super heavyweight division at the London Olympics. She competed out of Team Arizona Weightlifting in Mesa. Her suspension will be lifted in August 2015, about a year before the 2016 Rio Games.
The 25-year-old lifter's suspension began last August when the International Wrestling Federation imposed a provisional suspension. Any results by Robles subsequent to May 31 -- when the USADA said her first positive sample was collected -- also have been wiped out.
