PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department was called to the scene of a shooting at a Valley jewelry store.
Shots were fired at Diamond Star AZ Jewelry, near 14th Street and Northern Avenue, on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a male store clerk and a female suspect exchanged gun fire. Both were hit.
“We had a woman, believed to be in her late 20s, went in to the store,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson. “During the course of the robbery, the owner of the store pulled a gun and actually shot her several times.”
The suspect was hospitalized, but authorities said her injuries are not life-threatening. The clerk’s injuries were also not severe.
The scene remains heavy with police activity.
