MESA, Ariz. -- A man was hospitalized with burns and 10 other residents were temporarily displaced because of an early morning fire Monday at a Mesa retirement complex.

Mesa Fire Department spokeswoman Larissa Dvorak said the man has second- and third-degree burns on 50 percent of his body. The fires started in his unit.

Dvorak said water damage from sprinklers that had already put out the fire when firefighters arrived Friday morning.

The water damage from the sprinklers displaced the other residents.

Cause of the fire isn't immediately known.
