PHOENIX -- A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and endangerment in a 2008 car accident on a Glendale freeway that killed his friend.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 29-year-old Danny Padilla Ruiz entered his plea Friday and is expected to be sentenced Feb. 11.
Ruiz was indicted in December 2009 and a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in court.
The Arizona Republic reports that Ruiz moved to California and avoided police for more than three years. He was extradited back to Arizona last June and booked into a downtown Phoenix jail.
Prosecutors said Ruiz told authorities that he had been drinking before he crashed his car on the Loop 101 in July 2008.
The crash killed his passenger, 33-year-old Noel Caro.
