Ex-soldier gets prison in Arizona shooting death
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- A former Army soldier has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for fatally shooting his girlfriend in her northern Arizona apartment.
Coconino County prosecutors say 32-year-old Cemaludin ``Daniel'' Veseli got the presumptive sentence Thursday without the possibility of early parole.
A jury convicted Veseli in September on one count of second-degree murder.
County Sheriff's deputies arrested Veseli after 20-year-old Autumn Rae Tenney was found dead inside her Greenehaven apartment in the early morning hours of May 12, 2012.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the couple got into a heated argument and witnesses heard a gunshot around 2:30 a.m.
Veseli was seen running from the apartment and was later arrested. He testified at his trial that he had been cleaning the gun when he accidentally shot Tenney.
