Three years to the day she fell to the ground bleeding and in pain with a bullet in her head, Gabrielle Giffords fell through the sky with a smile on her face.

The former congresswoman from Arizona spent Wednesday, the anniversary of the mass shooting in Tucson, skydiving above Eloy.

Video of the tandem jump with friend and former Navy SEAL Jimmy Hatch was broadcast Thursday morning on NBC's "Today" show.

In a separate interview, show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who grew up in Tucson, asked Giffords, 43, if she thought about returning to political office. "A little bit later. ... maybe," Giffords said.
