Police still searching for suspect in officer shooting

PHOENIX — A fourth man suspected of being involved in a in a brazen New Year’s Eve robbery that led to the shootings of a Phoenix police officer and a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse volunteer is still on the loose.

Police are asking assistance from the public to locate 30-year-old William Herbert Mayes.

“Somebody out in the community knows where Mayes is and it’ll be through a tip that we’ll be able to locate him and get him into custody,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Meanwhile, officer Scott Sefranka and posse member Phillip Grigg are still hospitalized, but they are showing signs of improvement.
