FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Authorities say a pizza delivery driver who tried to distract an intoxicated man chasing a family in Flagstaff wound up with a broken arm.

Matthew Manning told Flagstaff told police that the suspect turned and attacked him as he was calling 911 on Saturday night.

The suspect got Manning in an arm hold behind his back and then snapped his arm as he forced him into an iron fence.

The Arizona Daily Sun reported that Manning will likely need surgery for a severe arm break.

Police said 22-year-old Ryan Bekaye was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on suspicion of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, trespassing and bringing contraband into a correctional facility.

They said Bekaye had a small marijuana pipe in his possession when he was searched.
