TEMPE, Ariz. -- A young Tempe man accused of fatally shooting one person and wounding another at an apartment complex has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors said 18-year-old Daniel Cody Taylor entered his plea at his arraignment Monday. His next scheduled court date is Feb. 14.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Tempe police said Taylor crashed a party Dec. 7 at an apartment complex near University Drive and Loop 101, but was asked to leave.

Police allege Taylor returned and fired into the unit's front patio, fatally wounding Jeff Ward, 28, and wounding a woman.
