Ex-Phoenix teacher pleads not guilty to solicitation
PHOENIX -- A former Phoenix high school teacher accused of soliciting sex with underage girls has pleaded not guilty.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 54-year-old Jerry Marfe entered his plea at his arraignment Monday.
His next scheduled court date is Feb. 13.
Authorities said Marfe was arrested Dec. 6 on suspicion of two counts of prostitution with a minor.
He was one of 111 people arrested in a prostitution and drug sting operation by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's officials said undercover video showed Marfe at a Tempe hotel with undercover officers he believed were 16-year-old prostitutes he met online.
Marfe taught in the Phoenix Union High School District for 27 years. He resigned after his arrest.
