TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe police say a skateboarder who was struck by an SUV has life-threatening injuries.

Police Sgt. Michael Pooley says the 24-year-old skateboarder was hit Friday afternoon as he tried to cross University Avenue. The SUV then drove into an adjacent neighborhood and was last seen speeding near Farmer Avenue.

Pooley says the driver was described as a white or light-skinned male in his early 20s with bushy brown shoulder-length hair with a comb or pick stuck in it.

Police are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact investigators.
