In a story Dec. 25 about deadly Christmas Eve crash, The Associated Press misspelled the name of the victim. His name is Matthew Teschner.

PHOENIX -- Authorities say a man was killed and a woman injured after their vehicle drove off a highway Tuesday into a canyon in Gila County.

The Arizona Republic reports that 19-year-old Matthew Teschner was driving on U.S. 60 near Show Low at about 7 p.m. when he missed a turn and drove off the road.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the car plunged about 1,000 feet down the Salt River Canyon.

Teschner was killed in the crash. A 19-year-old passenger was hospitalized. The severity of her injuries wasn't immediately known.
