Phoenix man married after Utah strikes gay marriage ban

PHOENIX -- A man from Phoenix married his partner on Friday after a Utah judge struck down a state ban on same-sex marriage.

Seth Anderson, a Phoenix native now living in Salt Lake City, and his partner, Michael Ferguson, were married just a few hours after the ban ended.

In multiple tweets, Anderson chronicled he and Ferguson's trip to the county clerk's office to apply for a marriage license.

More of Anderson's tweets said that lines were out the door at the Salt Lake City office he was at.

Despite a judge striking the ban, the Utah attorney general's office has requested an emergency stay to stop same-sex marriages in the state so they can review the ruling and file an appeal.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
