MESA, Ariz. — Mesa is one of 23 cities nationwide that will get some financial help to clean up neighborhoods.
The city is getting a $25,000 grant from a Bloomberg Philanthropy group called Cities of Service.
Mesa Mayor Scott Smith said the money will help fund a project called “Love your Block.”
“It’s all about cleaning up neighborhoods, removing graffiti, removing up to 10,000 pounds of waste and doing things that we do as part of our days of service,” he said. “But it’s great to have a national organization award us one of the grants that will help us do that.”
Smith hopes the money will be leveraged with donations from the business community that will help clean up more than a dozen Mesa neighborhoods this spring.
