YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. -- Authorities said a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Youngtown hotel is in custody.

Maricopa County Sheriff's investigators said 22-year-old Joseph Gonzales was arrested Wednesday morning near Surprise.

They said the shooting occurred Saturday night in the parking lot of a Best Western hotel in Youngtown, located west of Phoenix.

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a man lying motionless on the ground.

The shooter allegedly fled the scene in a car.

Sheriff's officials said the driver of that vehicle was taken into custody Monday night at a home in Phoenix.

The sheriff's homicide unit had been following up on tips about Gonzales' location until he was arrested.
