PHOENIX — A 17-year-old boy had to be airlifted out of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve Tuesday afternoon after falling from a cliff.
The boy was hiking with several friends when he fell approximately 15 feet off a cliff and landed on some sharp rocks, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
The boy sustained injuries to his left leg and head and was unable to walk out on his own. Fire crews had to use a helicopter to get the boy off the mountain. He was taken to a nearby hospital and received stitches.
Rescue technicians were on the mountain for two hours.
