PHOENIX -- A team of Arizona State University faculty and students, led by assistant professor Yasin Silva, is developing a tool that would allow parents to be alerted if their child is being cyberbullied on Facebook.

"We have a prototype, but we are looking for community support to release the final product," said Silva.

According to an informational video, the application named BullyBlocker would be used to automatically identify cyberbullying by analyzing data from messages, comments, chat sessions, picture comments and wall posts. Parents would be immediately alerted about behavior that appears to be bullying.

Developers are hoping to secure financial support through crowdfunding, Silva said.
