Tempe police officer accused of threatening ex-wife
PHOENIX -- A Tempe police officer has been accused of threatening his ex-wife in Gilbert and then leading officers on a high-speed chase while allegedly driving intoxicated.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 30-year-old Garrett Michael Peterson had his initial court appearance Monday.
Bond was set at $10,000 with a Dec. 20 status conference and Dec. 24 preliminary hearing. Peterson doesn't have an attorney yet.
Authorities say Peterson was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday. His ex-wife told police that he was making threatening phone calls and sending threatening text messages to her and her new husband.
Officers arrived at the woman's home and police say Peterson led them on chase that topped 120 mph.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony endangerment, threatening and intimidating, driving under the influence, felony flight and reckless driving.
