PHOENIX -- A man who ran a Phoenix daycare home where a 2-year-old girl was allegedly fatally injured last December has pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 27-year-old Ryan Alan Reed entered his plea Monday. He has a Jan. 30 initial pretrial conference.
Medical examiners announced last week that Savannah Cross' death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries, acute methamphetamine exposure and dehydration.
Reed was re-arrested in November after new forensic details showed the toddler had also been molested.
Authorities said Savannah was placed in the day care for weeks and months at a time by her mother, who was an erotic dancer.
Savannah later died at a Phoenix hospital. During an examination at the hospital, authorities said physicians found bruises all over the girl's body.
