MESA, Ariz. -- Police used tear gas to force an alleged suicidal driver out of his car after he led officers on a high-speed chase in Mesa.

Mesa police say 25-year-old Brandon Gonzaga had been sought by law enforcement after his brother reported he was missing, acting strangely and had a weapon.

Gonzaga was seen Sunday night at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, where he allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself. An off-duty Maricopa County sheriff's deputy saw him and called for additional officers, but Gonzaga eluded them.

He was seen again early Monday in Mesa and another chase began.

After Gonzaga was arrested, police say they found a shotgun and handgun in his car.

There were no injuries in the chase that reached speeds of up to 100 mph.
