SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A man and woman have been arrested for a series of shoplifting incidents involving baby formula at Scottsdale-area grocery stores since May.
Scottsdale police said 25-year-old Jose Gonzalez and an unidentified 26-year-old woman are accused in connection with 22 instances where baby formula was stolen from stores and then sold for a profit online.
Police said the suspects shoplifted from Albertsons, Fry's, and Safeway grocery stores from May 9 to Nov. 6.
They allegedly admitted to using the proceeds of their illegal sales to support $100-per-day drug habits.
Gonzalez and the woman were arrested on outstanding warrants Dec. 4 after being pulled over on a suspicion of a speeding violation in Scottsdale.
Police said the two later admitted the robberies were their main source of income.
