PHOENIX -- Democratic state Sen. Leah Landrum Taylor says she's running for Arizona Secretary of State in 2014 after months of exploring a run for her party's nomination.
Landrum Taylor made the announcement at a news conference Monday at the state Capitol.
She's the only Democrat so far in the race.
Republicans in the race include state Sen. Michele Reagan, Rep. Justin Pierce and investor Wil Cardon.
The secretary of state in Arizona is the state's top election officer.
Incumbent Ken Bennett is barred by term limits from running for re-election, but is running for Republican nomination for governor.
Landrum Taylor served for the past year at leader of the Senate's Democrats. She was ousted from the post in October.
The Phoenix resident is a third-generation Arizonan.
