Christmas tree tags for Ariz. forests selling out
SPRINGERVILLE, Ariz. -- Christmas tree permits still can be purchased for three of Arizona's national forests, but they're selling out quickly.
About 2,800 of the 10,650 permits still are available for the Apache Sitgreaves, Kaibab and Tonto national forests.
Permits to cut fresh trees on the Prescott National Forest are sold out. The Coconino National Forest doesn't have any left, either.
Permits went on sale at Big 5 Sporting Goods Stores in early November and at some U.S. Forest Service offices.
Permit holders have until Christmas Eve to cut a tree, which can be up to 10 feet tall. The $15 permits are limited to one per household.
