PHOENIX -- A 7-year-old child was struck by a school bus Friday, the Goodyear Police Department said.

The boy was heading home on his bike near Mabel Padgett Elementary School, located at 15430 West Turney Avenue, when he was struck by a Sunrise Preschool bus.

The boy was wearing his helmet and was conscious and alert when authorities arrived. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have yet to release any details about what led to the collision.

Falcon Drive was closed in both directions between 152nd Avenue and Westview Drive for a short term, but the roadway has now been reopened.

No other injuries were reported.
