TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe officials is expecting large crowds and lots of traffic Saturday, thanks to a big football game at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium and other public events downtown in the Phoenix suburb.

ASU will be hosting Stanford in the Pac-12 championship game. Other events include two NCAA women's basketball games at ASU, a swim festival and two showings of the musical "Evita." Plus there's the city's Festival of the Arts on Mill Avenue.

City officials have recommended that people arrive early and use park-and-ride lots and take light rail.

The following street will be closed Thursday-Monday:

Mill Avenue will be closed in both directions between University Drive and Third Street

Fifth Street will be closed in both directions between Ash and Myrtle avenues

Seventh Street will be closed in both directions at Mill Avenue Local traffic only will be permitted west of Myrtle Avenue
