HYDER, Ariz. -- A 10-year-old boy is recovering after being struck while trying to catch his school bus.

Yuma County sheriff's deputies say the boy was running along the bus Wednesday morning as it pulled away from the bus stop in the community of Hyder. The driver didn't see the boy and the bus inadvertently ran him over.

Deputies say the boy's brother saw him on the road, picked him up and took him home. A grandparent then took the boy to Dateland Elementary School, knowing there was a paramedic stationed there.

The boy was then flown to a Phoenix hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies say the incident has been ruled an accident. No citations will be issued.
