Arizona teen arrested after making threats to school
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- Police in Prescott Valley have arrested a teenage boy who they say threatened to bomb or shoot up a local school.
Sgt. Brandon Bonney says staff from the Franklin Phonetic School had alerted authorities to threatening and offensive emails.
Authorities traced the messages to a 15-year-old former student. Bonney says the boy made several incriminating statements, had about 100 rounds of ammunition and was seeking a handgun to carry out the threats.
According to police, the boy said he was angry with certain people at the school.
The teenager was booked into Yavapai County juvenile detention on one count each of hoax, threatening and intimidation, and disrupting a school.
The county's director of juvenile services said Tuesday that an attorney would be appointed for the boy.
