PHOENIX -- Two men who admitted to abuse in their mother's death in a filthy van carrying 35 emaciated animals were each sentenced to two years of probation.

Alan C. Stout and Gregory Randy Stout received the sentence Monday after their earlier guilty pleas to vulnerable adult abuse and animal cruelty in 73-year-old Lola Mae Stout's death.

Stout's husband, Alva Stout, received the same sentence Thursday for the same convictions.

He and his two sons told investigators Stout collapsed as she was being loaded into a van July 14 on a trip from Quartzsite to Phoenix.

She had health issues, including earlier strokes and schizophrenia.

The three family members didn't seek medical care and instead drove her in a van with 35 animals to Phoenix, where she was pronounced dead in Phoenix.
