PHOENIX -- Authorities say they're investigating the shooting death of a security guard at a Phoenix apartment complex.

Phoenix police have identified the victim as 59-year-old Jeffery Bellemare.

Officers were called to the apartment complex on 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road around 1:30 a.m. Friday about a shooting.

They found the victim in the complex suffering from apparent gunshot injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department paramedics.

Police say witnesses reported hearing shots being fired and seeing a suspicious vehicle fleeing the parking lot of the complex.

They say there no immediate suspects in the case, which is being investigated as a homicide.
