Avondale police trying to ID body found in canal

AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Avondale police are trying to identify a female's body found in a canal.

Police say the woman was an Anglo or Hispanic female up to 30 years old. She had long, dark, curly hair, and was 5-foot-6 and 130 pounds.

Cause of death isn't known, but the woman has no apparent signs of trauma.

She was wearing a black Diamond Industries shirt. She had earrings with a picture of a diamond on them, two piercings on her lower lip and a wrist tattoo that said "West."

The body was found Thursday morning by ATV riders near 103rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
