Board of Education getting new executive director
PHOENIX -- The board that regulates Arizona's public school system is getting a new executive director.
The state Board of Education has appointed Christine Thompson to replace Vince Yanez. He is stepping down to take a job with the Arizona Community Foundation.
Thompson is now the board's deputy director. She previously served as lobbyist for the state Board of Regents and before that as a lobbyist for the State Bar of Arizona.
The Board of Education's 11 members include the state superintendent of public instruction and a university of college president.
