Westgate to transform into winter wonderland for holidays

The Westgate Entertainment District will transform into a winter wonderland Tuesday, and organizers expect close to 3,000 attendees at events that will run through the end of the year.
Here’s a schedule of events that includes the lighting of a 33-foot tree with more than 3,100 lights, an outdoor ice rink and more:
What: Holiday season kickoff
Where: Fountain Park
When: 6:30 p.m.
Kick off the holiday season with an ice skating performance followed by the lighting of Westgate’s 33-foot tree and Santa’s official arrival.
What: Nightly snowfall
Where: Fountain Park
When: 7 and 8 p.m. nightly at Fountain Park from Nov. 26 through Dec. 24.
Watch as Fountain Park is transformed into a living snow globe twice a night.
What: Free ice skating
Where: Fountain Park
When: 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
Free ice skating for children 5 years old and older, including skate rental. Socks are required.
What: Menorah lighting
Where: Fountain Park
When: 7:30 p.m.
Celebrate Hanukkah with a grand menorah lighting along with activities and games for children. Traditional light bites will be served.
What: Free horse-drawn carriage rides
Where: Near Fountain Park
When: From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Nov. 29 through Dec. 21.
Enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides around Westgate Entertainment District.
What: Photos with Santa Claus
Where: Fountain Park
When: Nov. 26 through Dec. 24. Saturdays from noon until 8 p.m., Sundays from noon until 6 p.m. and select weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m.
